First of all, let me start with giving absolute praise to the customer service. I was really impressed with the communication and suggestions! You guys have an exemplary customer service! The product itself is super high quality and it really does look like something one can use for many years to come.
I ordered the blood red and black straps (Peak Design compatible) and an additional neon green rope. I honestly whish the blood red was more intense red - it kind of leans to more orange/red. The instagram photos made it appear much more deep red. Not a huge issue, of course.
One thing that slightly concerns me is if all the metal hardware might end up rubbing against the camera or the lens and possibly cause some scuffing. I think it would be very useful if you also sold some rubber sleeves to cover up the metal parts. Right now I have to take extra care when storing the camera into the bag, to avoid these parts to end up touching the screen.
Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and the quality of your product! Thanks
Strap is thin yet very strong and has served its purpose well.
Build Your Own Peak Design™ Compatible Camera Straps
When I received my build-to-order strap for Peak Design hardware, I was a little surprised at the rigidity of the sturdy black rope I selected. It's not comfortable, but more on that later. Certainly, it is heavy-duty. Also, the hardware around the end of the rope is metal and clearly very sturdy. That said, it relies on a bunch of tiny screws. When I went to screw in the screw that allows you to attach the Peak Design hardware, which is not included, one of my screws snapped with very little force. There are no extras provided. Without the screws, the strap is not usable. Thankfully, they sent a replacement quickly, but it did shake my confidence in the strap. Also, the hardware is a bit much, and the large metal sleeves at the end of the rope are something you constantly want to prevent from hitting your camera. They are like a club at the end of that rope, and with the Peak Hardware, they are several inches away from the camera, giving them room to swing into the camera body. I could easily see that if you were rough with this, you could easily damage a camera due to the intense hardware. I was looking for a simple strap that allowed for the attachment of the Peak Design hardware, and unfortunately, this is not it. It does look great, and I am sure it would be great if the hardware remains screwed together tightly (they have to use thread locker on everything as the whole situation had 4 screws on each strap end, so eight small screws are keeping your camera from hitting the ground). It isn't likely that they will loosen, but for some reason, it just bothers me after my broken screw issue. Lastly, the hard black rope seems great at first, but when carrying a heavy camera on it, it digs in and becomes uncomfortable. I ended up just going back to the stock Peak Design straps for now. Nice idea, heavy build, but with those issues, it was unfortunately just not a strap I will use.
Well the strap is perfect, well build and a nice finish. The website itself can be more clear about the endclips. Make a link available where to buy them. Or state clear that peak design is another brand and company. One expects to buy all in one.
